Sidebar Photoblog
There are several photo blog plug-in for WordPress. Most of them assume that you are a professional photographer who makes lots of money via his/her camera. We are perfect for bloggers.
Sidebar Photo blog doesn’t use lots of server resources and doesn’t have any confusing options. It uses WordPress functions to get maximum compatibility and flexibility.
Sidebar Photo blog is simple, light and easy to use. It also has some nice effects, a simple slideshow, ability to show random photos and an archive page for your pictures.

How can I use it?
After installation, the plug-in automatically creates a category called ‘Sidebar Photo blog’ and a page for a photo archive called `Photos’.
First Go to Widgets page and add Sidebar Photoblog to your Sidebar.
To Insert Your Photos
- Open Add New Post.
- Click on
and Upload your photo from computer (don’t use ‘From URL’ tab) then insert the full size image into the post. - Choose Sidebar Photo blog category and publish the post.
It is very flexible. You can upload several photos and add your own content (but only first photo will be appear in photoblog widget)

Notes
- To display photos grid (in two or more columns) simply reduce photo size. If you don’t want it you should increase your sidebar width. The plugin arrange photos automatically.
- You can customize padding, borders, etc using CSS (Don’t forget to disable style related options in the widget settings first).
- Preview pop-up image doesn’t work with slideshow.
- If your theme can’t show large photos properly change ‘Max Width’ in Settings -> Media. You can also change the thumbnail size and the size of the preview pop-up image (’Medium size’) there.

Hi…Thanks for the Plug in…I have a quick question. Are the pictures supposed to change (rotate) while on the front page in the sidebar, or remain static. Also, I can’t get more than 1 pic to display. I have the default settings(3), and have 3 pics in the post.
Thanks
Harry

Hi Harry,
You can insert different photos in your post but only first will be appear as thumbnail in home page (every post one image).
Photos currently remain static but it’s a good idea we will add this feature in next version!
Thanks!

Hi, great work on the plug-in.
It still needs some work to create a valid markup, to be W3C compilant.
But still, keep up the good work!

Hi..Thanks heaps for the plugin..I’ve made three separate posts with a single image in each..My site only shows up two of the photos though..Maybe it has something to do with my theme and overlapping with the photo in the bottom right hand corner? Let me know what you think.

AH HA! Got it!!
You have to upload the image freshly for each post – I was using an image that I had uploaded into my image gallery earlier. Once I added a new image and placed it into the post there was not only no problem with a sidebar display – the image showed up into the autogenerated photos page automatically!
WOW – THIS IS THE BEST!!
THANK YOU!

Thanks a lot for this great plugin! I’m just wondering if there is any way to avoid cutting of heads in the thumbnails shown in the slideshow.
I was thinking about different solutions:
1. Making the picture move, so that every part is visible on one point. (as you said above, you would integrate this in the next version).
2. To crop the thumbnails individually. But i couldn’t find any plugin that worked for me.
3. Changing your module in a way so that always the top bit for long pictures or the left bit for wide pictures is rendered as thumbnail. This way i can choose my images with the faces in these corners. ( I don’t have a clue if this is possible at all)
4. To only post square images. But this is not really the most attractive way to do it for my site.
Do you have any suggestions for me which way to go? At the moment i’m just not happy with cut of heads popping up in my slideshow.
Otherwise a great and very light plugin!
Thanks heaps
Steve

Hi, I installed the photoblog plugin on my site (afrojacks.com) and the plugin is not displaying images on multiple columns and rows. I made the thumbnail size extra small just to be safe and it only displays one picture. Additionally, using the slideshow method only displays one image in the show and then reverts to the word photos. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
